Now in it's third year, The APHP Headshot Bursary is now open! As a major, annual, charitable initiative run by non-profit organisation The Association of Professional Headshot Photographers (The APHP), the scheme donates one headshot session with an APHP-qualified photographer to students at each of 20+ major UK drama schools (taking our list from www.federationofdramaschools.co.uk + deserving additional schools).

Students need to be nominated by their schools. Each session is then awarded by the school itself to a current 3rd year student (or final year, in the case of one or two year courses), on combined grounds of financial need, performance excellence and high academic achievement.

Recognising that APHP members work with hundreds of UK drama students each year, the scheme allows the APHP to contribute to the success of emerging actors across the UK at a vital stage of their training.

The Bursary Scheme in 2018:
Thirteen deserving third-year students received a free headshot session with a top APHP photographer in 2018, as part of the Bursary, supporting emerging actors across the UK.

As Rhiannon Cura, ALRA, shot by member Steve Lawton, said: "One of the most relaxed headshot sessions I have ever had! Steve really cares about what he’s doing and getting the right shot for you! Thanks APHP for my Bursary!”

The Bursary Scheme in 2019:
We want to reach 20+ schools in 2019, so to discuss the bursary scheme in your drama institution for 2019, or for information about the group Headshot Workshops run by the APHP for drama schools, drop a line to bursary@theaphp.co.uk.

Notes:
As this is a charitable initiative, no fee or deposit is payable whatsoever by the student for their award session. Recognising that a photographer who gives up his or her time to donate a session to the scheme loses a paying client, we do expect each awarding student treat the session as a professional commitment: taking it at the agreed time with facilitation by the drama school in required.
