Remy Hunter as photographed by Aurora Santana.

How did you become a photographer?
During a student exchange trip to Prague way back in 1993. I took my parents' old SLR and immediately fell in love with the city and photography wanted to capture its architecture as best I could.

How did you get into shooting headshots specifically?
I graduated from art school in 2001. In the same year, I took headshots as a favour for an actor friend of a friend. We messed around on Primrose Hill with a couple of rolls of film and after went to the pub where I learnt that headshot photographers existed. I had no idea that actors needed to be photographed but was hooked from the off.

Where do you shoot?
Both outdoors and at my home studio in a room with floor to ceiling windows.

How would you define your style?
Simple and natural emphasising the eyes.

Tell us what you like most about your job?
Meeting different people and the challenges of working with different personalities.

And tell us what you like the least?
Editing the images. I keep the retouching natural and to a minimum but it is so easy to not know when to stop. Somehow I instinctively know.

Who is your photography hero?
Henri Cartier-Bresson for his wonderfully painterly compositions. A close second is Elliot Erwitt for the humour he manages to capture on the streets.

What track is most likely to be playing in your studio, or on you iPod?
At the moment it's anything by Lemon Jelly or Fred Deakin but Thievery Corporation are wonderfully chilled and laid back when shooting.

Jaffa Cake or Digestive?
A whole packet of Jaffas please.

Wine or beer?
Beer every time.

Cats or dogs?
Hard pressed; cats for their independence but also dogs for their loyalty. If I had to choose it'd be cats.

How would you like to be remembered?
As someone who made the whole headshot experience an enjoyable one.
